Mission Statements: Five Better Questions
Subscribing to blogs is a wonderful thing (that’s what that big orange box is at the top right of this blog is all about). I’m catching up on my reading from the holidays and ran across this great post about returning to work in 2007 and still be faced with the same old…well…same old stuff.
Mike Wagner at Own Your Brand suggests pulling people into a room and having a “no holds barred conversation” answering five questions so that you won’t have to go through the same old…stuff in 2007.
But reading the questions got me to thinking…these are really the best questions to be asking when you are in the process of developing a Mission Statement. See if you agree. Here are the questions:
- What is our creative difference?
- What do we promise our customers?
- What makes us relevant — right now?
- Can we hear and tell the truth within our organization?
- Do we have zombies working for us?
Couldn’t you develop a really good Mission Statement with those questions?
