Pimp Your Work - Improving Your Work Day Efficiency

My thoughts are with everyone in the Pacific NW

by Tris Hussey on December 16th, 2006

As you probably know this region of North America (U.S. and Canada) were hit with a huge storm this week. I was spared significant damage (the Gulf Islands are rather sheltered), but my friend and PYW contributor Scot Herrick didn’t fair so well.  A couple trees came down near his house and he and his wife are without power (like a few million other people in the Seattle area).  I’ve heard from them and they are safe and sound in a hotel (with power).

So, I’m hoping that things get back to "normal" soon, but it doesn’t sound like that is going to happen.  I’ve heard that in addition to the general trees down, etc the transmission lines are down as well.  Those are the big lines that feed the substations.

Scot, don’t worry about PYW, I’ll keep things going here while you climatically and power challenged.

Thanks, Tris, for your kind compassion for Scot and I during this time. I’ve been through a couple of disasters before, but I find as I get older that I become more needly and less tolerant of such things, particularly as the demands of my job and personal obligations increase.

You’ve been a beacon to us both in these few days whenever we’ve been able to get online.

    Thank you. Truly.

Jo you are very welcome. I’m glad you both came through this unscathed. Even better you have great stories (we’ll get you blogging soon enough!)!

Yes, I went through several hurricanes and blizzards back East. You really do have to think about preparedness.

Our snow adventure and the following power outages woke us up as well.
