Pimp Your Work - Improving Your Work Day Efficiency

Punk Fui and the Art of Positive Office Mojo

by Kammie on October 5th, 2006

Is your office or business thriving or merely surviving? Did you know there is a money corner located in your office or business? What if you could increase your prosperity by relocating your front door? Wanna know what kind of environment helps people to be more happy and productive in their work?

What if I told you it involved the direction your desk is facing? Does the color of your office walls support the work being performed? Could the lighting in your work space really be energy vampires? What if the offices and cubicles could be re-positioned to maximize productivity and efficiency?

Applying Feng Shui tips and tricks to your office space or work environment can maximize profits, productivity and positive vibes. Feng Shui Auditor, Michael Schnippering, of Feng Shui at Work, is one of Texas’s foremost Feng Shui authorities. “It is important to understand that Feng Shui is the understanding of the law of nature. Living in accordance to the law of nature and nourishing ourselves with healthy surroundings strengthens our minds and bodies.”

A little more punk than Zen? Check out Punk Fui: Feng Shui for the Rest of Us, from the crafty kids over at Supernaturale. In the words of Tsia, Punk Fui practitioner, “Feng Shui is an ancient, venerated art form whose practitioners study with masters for years to perfect their understanding. Punk Fui is something that I made up by reading a book on Feng Shui in a weekend and trying out some experiments. I mean no disrespect to actual Feng Shui practitioners by putting forward this DIY approach. The point of Punk Fui is to do this with purchases made at a dollar store.”

Schnippering shares info about the five elements (fire, wood, water, air, metal) to integrate into your work environment. He says about water “We can integrate pools, ponds and fountains into existing landscaping to strengthen the effect.

Water inside can be applied by adding small inside-fountains and aquariums.” I’ve recently added a small rock fountain to my office. While I love the calming aspect of the “trickle effect”, I wonder if this is why I’m taking more frequent trips to the bathroom. Although that could be all the green tea I’m drinking.

Add some positive chi to your work environment and go get your Zen on!
