Six points to SharePoint Success (updated)
If you use SharePoint, a powerful but hard to master product I’ve found, you should stop now and read this:
Microsoft SharePoint is garnering much attention in organizations, with Microsoft’s business partners, among the analyst community, and in the press. It is now a fundamental element of Microsoft’s Office suite and servers. The technology of SharePoint has improved substantially with the 2007 edition, but the question remains: How does an organization think about using SharePoint for business? There is a plethora of written material on the technology, features and technical installation and maintenance of SharePoint, but surprisingly little on the strategic side. This White Paper addresses the latter.
SharePoint for Business proposes a six step strategic framework for thinking about, installing, and driving business-oriented adoption of SharePoint within organizations.

I’ve known Michael Sampson as long as I’ve been blogging I think (over three years now). Michael knows collaboration and knows SharePoint. If you have SharePoint in your enterprise…this book is going to be worth your while.
Update: Michael kindly sent me a copy of his paper. I take back what I said. This paper isn’t just for SharePoint it’s for everyone. If you are thinking about any kind of group collaboration system, you shold buy this report and read it. Yes, there are parts that are SharePoint specific, but don’t worry about that. He general thesis and the six step strategy apply to any system.
