Tired of training? Try screencasting
Ever want to just show someone how to do something? Like "okay, here, watch me do it …" Easy to do if you’re all in the same office and such, but what about product support or training. Yeah not so easy. Screencasting is a great solution. LifeHacker talks about the leading screen recording/screencasting app out there Camtasia and their new service for hosting your screenscasts called Screencast of all things. C|Net has a good review of the features in the new Camtasia v4 and the Screencast service.
I’ve used Camtasia before, as have many folks here at B5. It is very easy to make a simple screencast and make it look pretty cool too. Yes, the files can get pretty big, you have to watch our audio/video quality and video size to help control those. I haven’t had a need to spend the cash on buying Camtasia, but if you are a training geek at your work … might be worth the cash instead of all the Tums you’re chewing.
