Using speech recognition in Windows Vista

by Tris Hussey on February 14th, 2007

Well it’s about day two here using Windows Vista of almost exclusively and then decided to try speech recognition today.  It takes some training the setup speech recognition and learn all the commands, however it’s worth taking the time setting up the tutorial and recognition.  If I can see though how speech recognition could be used against a user and the computer.

The computer seems to take all of my sighs as “if” it’s all a matter of training of course.  If in fact I’m dictating this blog post, which is taking a little longer than I’d like since the computer is still training to my voice but it’s getting a lot better.  I use the training module and the tutorial to help you learn how I speak the important thing is that it learns your particular inflections in accent to your words so they can better understand which are trying to say.  It’s kinda cool to be able switched to outlook from this blog post by saying a  few commands.

So if in a wrap up this blog post it’s kind of getting tiring having to  dictate everything and check what it’s been said.  Funny it caught a typo that I actually said and transcribed it correctly how’s that for accurate speech recognition.

That’s it for now more on my this experience later.
