Video Demo: Make MS Office 2007 Documents Open in Earlier Software Versions
The annoying thing about MS Office 2007 is that it saves files in a completely different format from earlier versions of office programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc. So if you create a document at work on your MS Word 2007, you can’t open it properly at home on your MS Word 2003.
This video demonstrates how you can easily solve this problem (with the exception of not using Office 2007 at all):

Celion, this is the easiest workaround but it requires Office 2007 users giving up the new XML format.
If old Office users install a Compatibility Pack, they can open docx and xlsx files directly in old Office.
