Gaboogie conference calling service might take the annoyance out of conference calls
Raise you hand, how many of hate setting up conference calls? Great, thanks. Now, how many of you have been on conferences calls that you’ve set up (and often paid good money for) and have someone just forget to attend (or you’ve done this yourself)? Really this should be most of you by now, except for that group in the back who never participates in these questions…no coffee for you at the break ;-)! While having a conference call number to call into is awesome and is sometimes the only way to get a meeting together (I like using three-way calling a lot as an alternative … and Skype as well), sometimes it’s just a royal pain. This new service Gaboogie might have an interesting solution to the problem:
Unlike traditional conference calling, Gaboogie’s service automatically calls all conference attendees at the scheduled time and creates the call. Gaboogie also offers an intelligent interface for online booking, and a Dashboard for managing every aspect of the call. The conference organizer can record calls and syndicate using RSS, use the Dashboard to mute lines, add additional attendees on-the-fly and create private conversations within the conference.

Now, this sounds great. And I gave the site a quick check out. Here’s the problem I have with it. It costs money. No, I don’t want everything for free, the point is that trying a new service that turns traditional conference calling on its ear is just a bit scary. I think Gaboogie might do well to offer a free 15 minute call with say three people. This would let people get a feel for the service before they try it for an important conference.

Thanks for the write up Tris. One thing, when you sign up you will automatically get 100 free minutes with no obligation, you need not whip out your credit card to try the service.
