Microsoft Surface as the desk of the future

While the world seemed to be ga-ga over Microsoft Surface, Michael Sampson had some of the best, OMG this could be used for…thoughts I saw:
And … if Surface can work like this … then there’s going to be a huge revision in office desking and tables in the decade ahead. This is a sea-change for […]

Ever feel like this at work?

Lord knows I have.

I think a brain reboot has something to do with sticking your fingers in your ear, nose, and eyeball.

Doodle your way to a meeting time

No I don’t mean drawing goofy things on a piece of paper. I mean using the site/service Doodle to help you plan a meeting:

So, lately, I’ve found myself informally assuming this role, driving a surprising number of gone-fallow projects just by using Doodle to propose a simple check-in. The bottom line is that this […]

Making the case for Enterprise 2.0

Are you trying to bring Web 2.0 into your work place?  You know that wikis, RSS, blogs, and other apps will save you time but you can’t quite get the boss to sign on?
I know the feeling.  I’ve snuck more than my share of apps over the years into companies.  The only way got away […]

MindManager 7 is shipping-try it now

Need a free ISO burner?

Sometimes, okay often, I download ISO files I need to burn onto CD or DVD. Generally these are Linux builds that I’m trying out, but you can also backup your computer and save that as an ISO. An ISO, btw, is a disk image file. It’s a compact version that is expanded onto a disk […]

AVG releases a Vista-compatible firewall

For all of us who made the jump to Vista or got a machine with Vista pre-installed, you might know that the only third-party firewall that is compatible with Vista has been a Symantec product. I’m not a huge fan of Norton Internet Security. In fact I tend to cringle when I […]

I ran Disk Cleanup now my machine won’t Sleep or Hibernate in Vista…huh?

Happened to you too? It was the darnedest thing. And the funny part was that the Sleep feature worked for a little while after I ran disk clean up then stopped. So, what happened?
Okay as you might remember I did a nice clean install of Vista recently. One of the nice benefits of this route […]

Expanding the top 5 Web 2.0 apps into the virtual office

Gili over on Connected Internet (one of my fav sites for new and opinion, btw) has picked the top 5 Web 2.0 apps for the enterprise. They are:

Salesforce.com
Zoho office
Basecamp
Wordpress
Google Apps

I haven’t tried Salesforce.com or Zoho yet (though I keep meaning to), they rest I have tried and I can recommend them without hesitation. I […]
